People would want to read an interesting novel that will get them hooked on. The novel To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee was about a white lawyer who is defending an African American who is accused of rape. The town and the lawyer’s family are against him for defending a different race. People should read To Kill A Mockingbird at least once in their lifetime. The author uses the characters to make the novel interesting to read. The author uses the problem to make the novel suspenseful and to get the reader’s attention. The author includes diction to show a different era of time. The characters, problem, and diction all helps to make the novel interesting to read and get the reader hooked on the novel.

Atticus does not want Tom to go through that, because he cares about Tom and this is what makes the novel provocative.
